The Bride
Pre-Wedding Parties
Yes, I am one of "those brides" who insists on wearing white to all my pre-wedding parties...
The Big Day!!
Hair
I obsessed over hair. I obsessed and obsessed and obsessed. These are the styles I ended up deciding on!I have a lot more hair than these girls, so the knot in the back will definitely be fuller. I also don't have bangs and am not really willing to cut my hair for the wedding, so hopefully she can work with that and still give me the swept back, beachy-yet-formal look that this style embodies.
I love love love my veil!!! I'll be wearing it in ivory. For more detailed shots, see this blog post (clicky).

After the ceremony, I'll remove my veil and replace it with this hair flower I got at H&M.

Makeup
I want my makeup to look natural. Maybe a light smokey eye and a really neutral colour on the lip.
I just want to look sun-kissed and radiant.

Makeup Trial
On the wedding day, there won't be white in the eyeshadow (I really didn't like that- she's going to use nude instead) and I think I might add more blush because I don't really see it at all.
*Please ignore the faces I'm making in these photos- I don't know why I didn't smile hahaha*

Jewelry and Accessories
I'll be wearing barefoot sandals for the ceremony. I ordered a sixpence that I'll be attaching to the left sandal near the heel. For the reception, I bought this pair of macrame flats from Wanted Shoes and they'll be perfect and will uphold the "queen of flats" nickname I've earned from my friends. They are already comfortable and I'll be able to dance in them for hours after only a short "breaking in" period.
My big (in my sorority) got me this AMAZING Ravenclaw garter set and I am in love with it. Everyone who knows me (and HP of course) pegs me as a Ravenclaw and I have some serious house pride. LOVE my garters!

These are the garters I originally bought and was planning to wear, but now I'm going to save them for the wedding night festivities (since they're a little sexier anyway).

Something Old/New/Borrowed/Blue & Sixpence in the Heel of your Shoe
Old
The promise ring my dad gave to my mum when they were teenagers. The stones in the ring were originally diamonds, but my mum had them replaced with mine, hers, and my dad's birthstones (aquamarine, diamond, and ruby- respectively) and gave me the ring for my sixteenth birthday. |
New
My new last name! I took the meaning of "new" a bit unconventionally. However, my dress, accessories, etc. are also all "new" for those who want to challenge the meaning. |
As for the sixpence...
I'm not wearing shoes, so I can't stick one in the heel. So, I went on Etsy and ordered a Sixpence with a hole in it. It has a jump ring, which I used to attach to the part of my barefoot sandals that wraps around my left ankle, near the heel.

The Dress
I found my dress!!! We went to David's Bridal (even though I didn't want to go there!) and had the whole moment where I cried and everything. It is everything I wanted: lace, form-fitting, timeless (with a twist!), romantic, and unique. I cannot wait to wear it again!! In these pictures, I am wearing a different veil than the one I ended up buying. We didn't get pictures with that veil on with this dress.
UPDATE: Dress is too big! Yay!! So look at the pictures below and note how awesome it looked on me (hey I can be arrogant if I want to, it's my page!). Now, close your eyes and imagine me nearly 30 pounds lighter and rocking the dress even more :p It's currently with the seamstress being altered, so it'll fit me like a glove and look beautiful when I walk down my sandy aisle <3

From David's Bridal's website:
"Lace fit-and-flare gown is sophisticated and romantic, perfect for a bride who wants high-fashion coupled with classic elegance." EXACTLY what I was looking for.

This last image is courtesy of TK (but the picture of the chapel-length train is mine). I love all the little details that are kind of lost on my cell phone pics, so the one from TK helps illustrate them. I also love how the hem has the same detail as the band under the empire waistline. For more detail shots, read this blog post (clicky).

Photos From my Second Fitting
My first fitting was in June and my dress was WAY too big. I went back in July and this is what I've got so far! Excuse the pieces that are hanging off- she had to take them off to take them in, and didn't want to sew them back until she made sure the dress fit :)
